Oh, well it wasn’t my intention to speak on the sexualization of underage anime girls in swimsuit episodes, more on the body positvity that Horiguichi’s art showed,
but nonetheless you make a great point and I completely agree! Aside from the on scene blatantly pointing out how Mio is a lot more developed than the rest, which that was drawn from a BEHIND angle and didn’t even give a WHOLE close-up of her boobs, just further proves your point that the swimsuit episodes were never sexualized, something that makes me indescribably happy. Especially when it COULD’VE been that way. They could’ve just as easily shown Mio has a huge rack by panning a show RIGHT up close to her boobs from the front, but they chose to adapt Kakifly’s original panel from a behind/side-ish view just to show part of how big her chest is. Not like, a BOING aspect that a lot of other shows use, like boob physics I think it’s called. It definitely does make me appreciate the series that much more.
First gif! (Well not technically, but the first one that turned out the way I wanted it to!)
You know what I do at 3 am when I should be asleep? I think about how much it would cost to make a life sized statue of anime girls in solid gold. The lovely Nakano Azusa weighs 46kg, according to yahoo answers (and really is there a more reliable source) gold is 13.72 times denser than humans, and today’s price of gold per kg is roughly 43k USD. So this statue ends up weighing 631.12kg using the given numbers. Lets assume that this statue is clothed and maybe she even has a guitar or something, 650kg seems reasonable. At today’s price of gold that comes out just shy of 28 million USD.

“i want an anime with non binary characters!!”

“i want an anime with a visibly disabled character!!!”

“no, a visibly disabled POC!!! and make them a woman!! and dealing with extreme poverty and homelessness!”

“well, what about a POC with severe mental and emotional trauma? and a narrative about the horrors of war and imperialism, and race supremacy!!”

“give me a woman who is as strong as the men in the power structure of her society!!! but don’t sexualize her!!!”

“give me an anime with a cast that’s diverse in terms of gender representation!!!!”

“show me the most successful anime of the past 30 years…that’s been written by a WOMAN!!!!”

“give me an anime with a cast of different races and religions!!! and show me a narrative that includes the way imperialistic white-dominated power structures oppress and devastate minority groups based on racism and destructive actions of war!!”

“give me an anime with character development and intense personal narratives!!”

“strong female characters and a narrative without sexism!!!”

“the best anime of the past twenty years!!!!! if not one of the top animes of all time!!!!!!”

“what should i watch next?????”

“But it shouldn’t have anything where a little girl and her dog are merged into a nightmare monstrosity.”
… D'oh.
I completely agree with you there.
